The evolution of a silicone heart.
Some time ago, I came up with an interesting concept for a bio-compatible pump.
Made of silicone, and components completely enclosed in silicone, this pump could conceivably be implanted inside of a person.
ok... so what do you do with a pump that you can plant inside of a person?
I had developed an interest in LVAD units the same way most people in America did about that time: watching "Grey's Anatomy".
To see an otherwise healthy, vibrant human being die from something as "Simple" as a malfunctioning pump is a difficult thing for an engineer to accept.
The heart is a pump. Just a pump... and pumps can be fixed.
( or so the engineer inside of me reasoned. )
